Daily writing prompt
Hit 5,000 steps today and drop your achievement here — we’re cheering you on!

Usually, I do go out for a small walk, long hours of walk or just to hit 10k steps of walk. However, today’s walk marks a different meaning and purpose to every single steps that I took because I am walking for the Minority Mental Health Awareness, as this month of July commemorates it’s awareness month.

This morning I took 5,821 steps, it’s not only a challenge to prove myself but also for a cause that holds special meaning in my heart. The awareness calls out for a kinder, and a better treatment for the racial, ethnic, religious minorities and LGBTQIA+ individuals, thereby breaking the systemic barriers and advocating an equitable access to health care.

I belief taking a walk itself is therapeutic, in particularly taking 90 minutes of walk in the nature reduces the activity in brain that associated with repetitive, negative thoughts and depression.[ 1] Moreover, green exercise has gained traction lately in improving the overall wellbeing, reduces negative emotions, and promotes positive emotions. [2]

So, I encourage everyone to take more steps for your physical and mental health, on the way, let’s be kind and considerate to each other because we don’t know what is happening in their life.

Total step challenge
