Self-reflection or Journaling in a distanced self-talk Manner is the best way to deal with negative thoughts.

What’s the best way to deal with negative thoughts?

For me, the most effective way to manage negative thoughts is by engaging in self-reflection. I find it helpful to identify flawed thinking patterns and their triggers. Journaling in a more distanced, self-talk style allows me to gain a clearer and more objective perspective on my emotions, sensations, and thoughts. This practice truly empowers me to take charge of my mental landscape. It feels less like just maintaining a journal and more like embarking on a transformational journey.

Occasionally, I go for a long walk, go hiking, or do intense cardio exercises when thoughts are running wild in my mind, just to channel these thoughts through physical activity. This gives a cathartic sense of relief and relaxation.

However, I believe the best way to deal with it is to recognize the underlying triggers and causes by reflecting on and facing them, though it takes a lot of mental strength, courage, and self-control to do so.

Once you’ve gained a firm handle on your emotions, sensations, and thoughts, you’ll truly become the master of your own journey. This newfound control will empower you to confront life’s ultimate challenges without succumbing to nerves or losing your sense of reason.

July is recognized as Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. It is my hope that this acknowledgment will contribute, even in a small way, to addressing negative thoughts and emotions.
